Fight Inflation With Masterpass Discounts!
In this environment, we need some money-saving tricks!
Inflation is getting crazy!
In May, the 12-month rise in the US CPI for meat, poultry, eggs, and fish was 14.2%! And that’s on top of a 34.6% rise in energy costs and a more than doubling of fuel oil costs.
I think it is important to start thinking strategically about expenditures, making sure we keep the quality of our food, supplements, and other health investments at top notch, while also using discounts and bulk buying to create inflation resilience.
One of my most important investments in inflation-resilience has been to buy a CSA share in Essex Farm. As I first suggested in The Emerging Food Crisis, buying a CSA share contractually locks in the price of food over a year, and also frontloads capital investment in farms that have lower fossil fuel and chemical fertilizer inputs, allowing them to expand their operations and create resilience to the crisis at a community level. I decided to walk the walk, and am loving it.
If you don’t live in upstate New York, NYC, or in driving distance from Essex Farm, you can search for a local CSA here.
If a local CSA isn’t an option, the Masterpass discounts I am about to introduce you to include four sources of frozen meat and fish: White Oak Pastures, US Wellness Meats, North Star Bison, and Vital Choice seafood.
I believe it is time to start acting intensively on building inflation resilience. I have outlined my thoughts in the footnote.1
Toward that end, I bring you the exclusive Masterpass discounts.
This includes a dedicated storefront with an immediate 35% off 305 brands of supplements, and a rebate program where we top off your coupons by sending you back our affiliate commissions as rebates on all my favorite products as well as member-requested products.
But first, the “I Hate Inflation” discount on the Masterpass itself!
The “I Hate Inflation” Discount
The “I Hate Inflation” discount on the Masterpass membership is equal to the 12-month rise in the CPI for nutrient-dense meat, poultry, eggs, and fish (14.2%) plus the max fed funds target rate (1.75%) and is now 15.95% off.

Some Specific Inflation-Resilience Strategies
Apart from the CSA program, my main strategy is to start building a one-year supply of all consumables I know I will need, which I have expanded from my previous goal of keeping a three-month supply.
Buying now locks in the current price, which I expect to be a lot lower than the future price.
It is important not to use credit card debt for this, but only savings that are not destined for other critical needs, since inflation is likely to remain less severe than the interest rate on credit cards (and variable interest rates on anything are likely to go up a lot).
It is important to not keep goods longer than they would expire. For example, I have started keeping a ten-month supply of Paleovalley Beef Sticks in my office closet. These consistently come in with an expiration date ten months into the future, so I limit my supply to what I would use over ten months.
A way to increase the freshness of the supply of stored foods while allowing some wiggle room if you aren’t sure how much you would use would be to buy what you think you would use in six months, rather than one year (or, with the beef sticks, five months rather than ten months). Then, add a two-month supply each month for six more months. At the end you wind up with a year’s supply and you drop your new orders to just what you need to replace. If the economic outlook changes unexpectedly to one that looks like inflation is cooling off, you can always slow the new orders so that you start reducing your supply.
Discounts are particularly useful, because they not only reduce the current price further, allowing more stocking up, but they also can allow you to stock up with less money spent, so that you can conserve money for saving and other methods of improving resilience.
Toward that end…

15% Back on LMNT, the Salty Electrolyte Mix
LMNT is a the saltiest electrolyte mix on the market. I believe many people with low dopamine symptoms (low motivation, low energy, low focus, easy distraction), with persistent failure to absorb, retain, or properly distribute nutrients into their cells, or who can't seem to retain the water they drink, need more salt. Many athletes and sauna users lose copious amounts of salt in their sweat. I also find salt great for hangovers and for alcohol-induced insomnia.

23.5% Off Dr. Cowan’s Garden
Masterpass member, Atlanta-based lactation consultant, and former executive director of the Ancestral Health Society, Katherine Morrison, recommended we get Dr. Cowan's Garden into the exclusive discount program.
Here is what Katherine had to say about them:
"Dr Cowan’s powders are the easiest way I’ve found to increase veggie intake and maximize nutrient density of my morning smoothie. I use the Swiss chard and low-oxalate blends. For me, feeling energetic and focused throughout the day requires so much potassium, which means so much produce. When it was difficult to consistently get fresh greens a couple of months ago, these absolutely saved me! I continue to use them daily because they’re quick, easy, and reduce cleanup in my kitchen."

12% Back on Wellness Mama's Wellnesse Products
Katie Wells of Wellness Mama spent a decade making homemade skin and hair care products for herself in her kitchen, and recently began selling the products under the name Wellnesse. Her toothpaste has quickly become my favorite, hydroxyapatite to promote mineralization, xylitol to prevent tooth decay bacteria from growing, neem and green tea as natural antimicrobials, aloe vera and silica for whitening, and a fresh mint flavor. I haven't tried her shampoo yet, but rumor is that women with curly hair love it. The wellnesse.com web site has an "ingredients" tab that tells you exactly why they put each ingredient in each product.

19% Off Barbell Apparel
My five favorite t-shirts are all Barbell Apparel T-shirts. Barbell was launched to make clothing fit in a way that shows off the work you do in the gym, in a subtle and classy way. They ran the 2nd-biggest fashion Kickstarter campaign of all time to develop their athletic fit jean, which spilled over into other brands to bring athletic fit to the mainstream. They have been featured on Shark Tank, and their athletic fit havok polo shirt has sold out over three times. In addition to t-shirts and polo shirts, they have tank tops, long-sleeve shirts, hoodies, and sports bras; and for bottoms, they have leggings, jeans, shorts, chinos, joggers, and dress pants. Styles for both men and women.

Up to 32.5% Back on Perfect Supplements
Masterpass member Nick Light requested we incorporate Perfect Supplements into the exclusive discounts program. Here is what Nick had to say about this company:
"I absolutely love Perfect Supplements! I have always struggled to find supplements that I can trust, even noticing that some of the top brands use fillers and ingredients that I'd like to avoid. Perfect Supplements produces high-quality products, with no fillers, and they are committed to lab testing to make sure that they are providing exactly what they say they are and nothing else. In fact, they just expanded their testing to do complete 3rd party testing on every batch of finished product. I really love their collagen powder, liver capsules, and magnesium."

This is what Taylor had to say about the brand:
“I’ve been doing some level of a ketogenic diet for around 6 years now. Early on it was challenging to find products (especially bars) that fit what I was looking for. Perfect Keto’s bars are hands down the best keto bars for taste and ingredients out there. I’ve tested everyone against a CGM [continuous glucose monitor] and had near zero blood sugar spike from them. Additionally, all of Perfect Keto’s MCT powder and exogenous ketone products are both tasty and effective. I highly recommend all of their products I have used.”
I have been a guest on the podcast of Perfect Keto's founder, Dr. Anthony Gustin. You can listen to it here.
Their selection includes bars, nut butters, coffee, urinary ketone testing strips, MCT oils and powders, and a nutritional/herbal blood sugar support supplement.

Hope these savings help!
I am not a financial expert, so please take this simply as things to think about, and not as advice or facts. Here is my thought process.
Even those who insisted the hardest for the past year the inflation was “transitory” have now abandoned that word. That includes Janet Yellen and Jerome Powell, and today the Fed just raised interest rates the greatest increment in one meeting since 1994, exactly because they feel compelled that inflation will be out of control if they don’t do something.
The San Francisco Fed published a study suggesting that the stimulus checks account for 3 percentage points of the American CPI. The most recent CPI was 8.6%, suggesting that if the Fed can shrink liquidity enough to reverse the effects of the stimulus checks it can get the CPI down to 5.6%.
They assume a “desirable” target rate of 2%, leaving 3.6 percentage points to supply disruptions that are primarily lagging effects of COVID lockdowns but are worsened by the Russia/Ukraine conflict and other problems. The key driver of this portion of inflation is the high price of oil, whose supply would not be able to recover as fast as demand even if circumstances were favorable. As a result of the ESG movement and the political hostility to oil drilling, the circumstances are extremely unfavorable.
The Fed’s role is to slow demand by slowing growth, which it does by withdrawing liquidity. While this will slow demand, it will also slow supply, since oil production requires financing, financing is already hard for the oil industry to get, and shrinking liquidity will make it much harder.
Therefore, I think the supply issue will get worse, so the best scenario is the Fed gets CPI down to 5.6%, but more than likely the 3.6 percentage points due to supply disruptions compensate for this and make inflation very difficult to get down even that far.
Even at 5.6% CPI, prices are growing across the board, and food CPI would likely be much higher than that.
So, I really see no way at all that prices aren’t higher one year from now than they are now, and I find it very likely they are considerably higher.
