What's Your Quarterly Health Goal?
Or, if you didn't make one yet, your health-related New Year's resolution?
Happy New Year!
It’s Q1 of 2023, and time for us all to set a quarterly health goal!
My quarterly health goal in Q4 of 2022 was to study myself in a newly discovered but likely theretofore lifelong mild biotin-deficient state.
My health goal for this quarter is to study the breadth and depth of the health improvements I get from optimizing my cellular biotin levels.
Usually I would use a single key performance indicator (KPI) to assess my success in meeting my health goal at the end of the quarter. However, because my current goal is exploratory in nature and because I have a large swath of hypotheses about what the mild biotin deficiency is doing to my metabolism, I actually have a large collection of indicators I will be testing. My KPI will be the discovery of a collection of indicators that are moved in meaningful ways by biotin supplementation and the successful selection of one indicator to make sure I maintain healthy cellular biotin levels through the future.
I will be writing in much more detail about this over the coming months.
You can find more background about these specific goals as well as how I arrived at the concept of setting quarterly health goals in Quarterly Health Goals: Better Than a New Year’s Resolution!

My quarterly goal: by the end of this month, change my diet to mostly keto with an eating window of 10am to 4:00 pm. This is due to the adjustment of working evenings at the gym and not be able to eat past 6pm, less my IBS decides to rear its ugly head. In this process, I expect to loose 8 - 10 lbs and 2 inches of my waist...with a goal of March 30th - April 10, 2023. A little flexibility can go a long way!
