My mom has been on statins for a few years now and her memory is getting progressively worse. She won't admit it to my brother or I and changes the subject when she gets caught forgetting some pretty big stuff. Have no idea what to do because I doubt she will stop taking her statins and my brother thinks it's all over once you hit age 55.
Interesting article, but a bit dated now (2024): statins now contain a warning about rare memory effects. More importantly, a large number of studies have shown that statins low heart disease through both their lipid-lowering and their inflammation-lowering effects.
