is it safe to assume that sulfur dysregulation can and will cause problems with oxalates in and outside of the body based on the fact that sulfite depletes b1, b6 and b9? these are coincidentally the b's that are potentially critical for oxalate metabolism.
"There are no and will never be any randomized controlled trials testing whether sulfite administration causes anxiety in humans." Why on earth not? This sounds extremely important!
I don't recall if I mentioned this book previously on this Substack, but Nutrient Power by Dr. William Walsh strikes me as foundationally important for understanding the connection between micronutrients and mental health. Dr. Walsh focuses especially on vitamin B6 and zinc (esp. zinc to copper ratio). Dr. Walsh treated and cured many cases of apparently incurable mental/behavioral disorders by focusing on diet and supplements.
Well you have a point, I could see them doing it with levels that are commonly used in foods and medications, but I don’t think they would approve one at levels that were thought to be above those usually used and toxic to the brain.
because it's not considered ethical. whereas in animal research, the scientific profession (and society in general) has less qualms about testing hypotheses on animals.
Hey Chris, I've read your lab addendum to molybdenum and that you have had too low uric acid and still showed rather low levels after molybdenum replenishment. Do you, by chance, have the "AA" genotype of rs594445??
I have the AA genotype, which could explain why I always had slightly too low or low-ish uric acid. I suspect sulfur issues in my case, and as my uric acid is at 3.9, my recent Mo-Zyme supplementation might not yield the desired effects that B2 perhaps might be able to achieve. Only time will tell. So yes, I'm currently figuring out how to do my personal sulfur protocol.

Hello, I found myself low in uric acid (3.3 mg/dl) as well 2 months ago. Then I saw, that it was the case last year as well. Before that, my uric acid was around 4.7-5 all the 10 plus years before. Diet was ever the same.
A likely reason: I changed my Multi from one capsule of Life Extensions Two-per-Day (= 50µg molybdenum) to one with zero molybdenum about 1.5 years ago. I then took a urine test an molybdenum turned out 8.3 µg/l (15-76) and 5.5 µg/g Creatinine (15-76) This was fascinating. Molybdenuim in blood was 0.68 µg/l (0.5-1.8). After three days on molybdenum around 1.200 µg I found myself doing 7132 m in 30 min on my concept 2 rowing machine and on day 9 it were 7355 m in 30 mins. I am doing this once per week for > 10 years same day of the week at the same time (monday evening) and it was nearly impossible to get over 7050 m for the last 12 months or so. I thought am getting older (60 years now, 75 Kg weight). The relatively high molybdenum dose came with headaches, and a reduced it to around 500 µg and took care about copper (2 x 2.5 mg/day plus beef liver capsules), since I am the low normal serum copper and low normal coeruloplasmin person.
PS, everyone who ist doing the 30 mins full exaustion on the concept 2 rower will understand that this increase is mindblowing. The only thing I changed was adding molybdenum :-) and after 4-5 days copper.

I have amalgam stuck in my lower jaw bone and infected cavitation from where my wisdom teeth were removed 25 years ago...no wonder I can't get better!
How do I know if there is a disturbance in the function of the gene or something to pay attention to? For example, I have rs1081975 CG, but I don't know what it indicates in this case.

We don't know more than what I wrote. In general, I think common polymorphisms are usually. much less important than rare mutations.
